We’ve all, I’m assuming, had a wardrobe malfunction at the most inconvenient time. All you can do is cover it up and keep it moving. To avoid these events from happening I try to follow a couple of simple rules when I have a really important meeting/briefing taking place. Normally when I don’t follow these rules something bad happens (I’m a magnet for these things). If you have additional suggestions please include them in the comments.
Rule 1: Don’t Wear Button Down Shirts
Unless you’ve worn it before and truly trust it or have a shell underneath it I would steer clear of button down shirts. You don’t want to flash everyone in the room. Instead try a blouse with a v-neck or rounded collar.
Rule 2: Wear Comfortable Shoes
It doesn’t matter if you choose pumps or flats they need to be comfortable. If you have to stand for long periods of time you want to be comfortable. Even if you’re sitting you don’t want to focus on your feet. Wear shoes you can trust or if you have to buy new shoes try to get a brand that you normally don’t have to worry about breaking in.

Rule 3: If Wearing a Blazer or Cardigan Make Sure the Shirt Underneath Can be Worn Alone
You never know what the room temperature is going to be. Personally I get hot easily so I have to pay attention to this rule. No matter if you’re a hot or cold person I think the key here is to dress in layers. The last thing you want to do is look like a sweaty mess. I sometimes will wear a light shell that will still look appropriate if worm alone.
Rule 4: Don’t Wear Fabrics That Show Sweat Marks
Earlier I mentioned I am normally a hot person so this may not apply to all. But because I know how I am I try to avoid silks and polyester that easily show sweat marks.
Rule 5: Pants Should be Flexible
Make sure your pants have enough give. You’re going to be moving around a lot so you want your pants to look and feel good at all angles.
Rule 6: Wear a Skirt That Doesn’t Twist
Make sure that your skirt fits properly. It’s nothing more embarrassing than having your seams in the wrong place.
Rule 7: Always Bring an Extra Pair of Stockings
I feel like the sole purpose of stockings is to get at least one run. Always have a back-up.
Rule 8: Wear Pieces You’ve Worn Before
In general, if the meeting/briefing is really important go with an outfit you can trust.
Rule 9: This Is Not the Time to Experiment with a New Hairstyle
This one is pretty self explanatory. If you decide to get a new color or style a day before you are just asking for trouble. Play it safe.
Rule 10: Do Accessorize
Last, but not least, do accessorize. Accessories add that extra little flare to make you sparkle! I made this about a month ago using Lava Beads.
