Finding the perfect desk can be tricky. You want it to fit the style of your home (material and cut) while also providing the right fit (height and depth). Most desks have a 30” seat opening for average height individuals. If you are tall don’t even consider anything under 33”. If the seat opening measurement isn’t available, make sure the overall desk height is at least 35 inches. Remember that if there is anything attached to the top of the desk, like a shelf, that it is also included in the height. So be careful because the height can be deceiving. Of course, going in to the store and testing it is always the best option. The measurements above are perfect if your height is around 6’1”. If you’re taller go up in inches.
Most of the desks below are counter height and have cubbyholes on the side. Looking for a traditional wood desk? Try your local furniture store and get an estimate on how much a custom desk will cost. The adjustable desks are another option, I provided links for you on the bottom of this page. Please include links to your favorite furniture pieces below or post a picture on tallook’s Facebook page. Lastly, remember to order a chair with a back. You need that support. Search for drafting stools or chairs specifically made for talls (some will even say extended height) to go underneath the taller desk.
